1993 EMMONS D-10 Pedal Steel
Marbled Charcoal Gray Mica
Exceptional Sustain, Killer Tone!!!
is as beautiful as it sounds. In the 35 years I have played steel guitar, I have never seen or played a guitar with this much sustain!!! This one has the famous Emmons tone to die for too. This guitar was custom built during the
famous Jack Strayhorn era, a time when Emmons Guitars were purportedly
among the best built and sounding Emmons guitars ever! If you have ever played a
pedal steel guitar--or any guitar for that matter--you are then well aware that
the characteristics of an instrument can vary widely from the one made before
it and after it. To get a fantastic sounding guitar is sometimes rare,
and when musicians are fortunate to obtain one, they usually hold on to it.
I have owned
this guitar since March 2013, but I am forced to part with it due to health
conditions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this guitar, and I
will guarantee your complete satisfaction. It was rated a "9"
out of a "10" when I purchased it from an Emmons dealer--a very
fair assessment, especially for a 20 year-old all-pull guitar--and I am also stating
that it still a "9". The reason being because of appearance
such as minor scratches and bar dings and not because of
playability. The instrument has not been out of my house since I have
owned it. The action of the pedals and levers are as smooth as
butter. The guitar and undercarriage components, exchanger fingers, and
tuner heads were fine-tuned by an Emmons factory authorized
dealer when I took ownership. From what I can gather, this guitar may have had several more knee
levers at one time before I acquired it. I had Emmons modify the copedent
for me at extra cost.
the included photo depicting the copedent. The instrument came with dual
Emmons-brand humbucking pickups that sound nearly as good as single coil
pickups, but without the typical 60Hz hum normally associated with single coil
pickups. I had installed Emmons Single Coil pickups trying them out. If you don't want the original humbucking pickup (shown), I have almost brand new Emmons Single Coil 17.5k, 18.5k, and 20k pickups. You may choose any of those, and I will install any of them for you free of charge, and then I will install the new strings. The second string on the E9 neck has a split tuning that is
actuated by an Emmons factory installed plunger which will give you precision
control for the half stop.
marbled mica is in excellent condition. From a distance, it almost
appears black. In sunlight or bright lights, you can see the marbled gray
effect. The actual color is lighter than pictured.
instrument comes with an Emmons hard shell case that is in excellent condition.
I am including a brand new set of Live Steel Stainless Steel strings for both
necks, an aluminum nut tuner, and leg pouch.
